I am having problems with running Macros in 2003 and 2007 formats.

I am having problems with running Macros in 2003 and 2007 formats.
I have created a new workbook and saved it as 97/2003 format and created the macro using the Record Macro tool.
This runs fine from 2007 but if I try and run it in 2003 I get an error at the following point in the VB.
Selection.ListObject.QueryTable.Refresh BackgroundQuery:=False.
if I change it to
Selection.QueryTable.Refresh BackgroundQuery:=False
it will then run.
I have found some code to detect which version of Excel it is running but I have a lot of spreadsheet with many macros in.
Is there some code that can be used on opening the file to then run the macros correctly, or are we doing something wrong?

Would appreciate your expert guidance.

I you need to write code that needs to run in multiple versions, it's best to develop and test the code in the oldest version that you need to support.
That way you won't use features that were introduced in a later version (such as ListObject).

Also, references to code libraries other than the standard ones will generally be converted automatically if you open the workbook in a newer version than the one it was created in, but not always if you open it in an older version.
