I have Windows Vista Home Premium with a Service Pack 2.  System type 32-bit Operating System.  KB976321 will not update.  I have Office Home and Student 2007.  Any suggestions?

Every once in a while, you need to install patches manually.  Have you tried downloading and running the patch manually (without the use of Windows Update)?
If not, you can download the patch here: 
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?displaylang=en&FamilyID=160ad53e-6475-4550-90c2-444e4abea730.  Clickk Download then Run.  You'll need to accept the agreement then click Continue.  After it installs, run Microsoft Update again
and click Check for updates.  Hopefully it will show that you are completely patched.
If that doesn't work, try running Microsoft's OneCare safety scanner.  Sometimes it will resolve hidden registry issues, or can clear up viruses which can prevent installation of patches:

Click
Full Service Scan, then Quick scan (complete scan takes a very long time to complete).
Try the patches again.

In this method we will try to Boot in Safe mode with Networking and see if the error still persists.

• Search "MSCONFIG" and Open.
• Click on Boot Tab
• Tick Safe Boot in Boot Option
• Select Network.
• Click Apply and OK.
• Reboot your System.
