Troubleshoot:1440x900 Resolution will not change

1440x900 Resolution will not change

My problem is the resolution.
I know that I can change the resolution above 1440x900 to 1600x1200 but it just won't work anymore.
Yesterday, the scrollbar thing was able to go up above 1440x900 but today it doesn't show anymore.
I've tried reinstalling the
drivers for ATI Mobility Radeon X1400 (Laptop) but it just gives an error that it doesn't find anything to install or something like that (which wasn't the case before)
I know I'm not crazy because it says with a warning icon under the resolution dropbox
*If your resolution is below 1600 x 1200, some items may not fit on the screen.*

Hi Searcher646464,
If possible do provide the exact error message you get while reinstalling the drivers.
You may try using the below steps and check if these help -

Method 1:
You can try performing the system restore after booting the computer. The System Restore tool uses restore points to return system files and settings to an earlier point in time.
You can use it to restore the
operating system to a point in time in which you did not experience the issue.
Note: When you use System restore to restore the computer to a previous state, programs and updates that you installed are removed.
You may open System Restore by clicking the Start button.
In the search box, type System Restore,
and then, in the list of results, clickSystem Restore.‍ If you're prompted for an administrator password or confirmation, type the password
or provide confirmation.
To do this, there must be a System Restore point at which the logon was successful.
You may refer to the below links for assistance on performing a system restore -
Method 2:
You may check if you can provide us with the error message for the devices from device manager.
You may refer to the below steps-
Open Device Manager by clicking the Start button, clicking Control Panel, clicking System and Maintenance, and then clicking Device Manager.
If you are prompted for an administrator password or confirmation, type the password
or provide confirmation.
In Device Manager, locate the device and then right-click the device name and go to properties.
Now under the general tab check the device status.
Let us know the status of the device.
Also you may inform any error code stated with the status.
Method 3:
Also you can use the link “windowsupdate.microsoft.com/catalog”.
Check for "ati x1400 windows 7.

Then install the appropriate drivers and check if the issue resolves.
Hope this helps.
