Cannot get Windows mail (Vista) to recognise recipients addresses

Hi,

I have just purchased a new computer with Vista Home Premium installed.
My previous laptop had XP with Outlook Express.
When compiling an email to send with outlook express 6, as I typed the recipient/s name/s into the "To"or "CC" space, Outlook would recognise
the recipients name from my address book & automatically insert the address into the space.
It generally only needed the first letter of the recipients name unless of course there were 2 or more contacts in the address book with similar in which case more
letters would need to be typed in before the contact's address was recognised.
 
The issue I am experiencing is that Vista does not do this.
I have searched the help menu without success in finding a solution.
Can anyone provide a solution?Also does anyone know whether I can insert files into the day provision pages/spaces in the calender
in Windows mail. ie paste pages/charts captured from another program.
I am told that this is possible with Microsoft Outlook, however I dont have this program.

The feature that you’re talking about and as Anthony mentioned is call “AutoComplete” where Vista saves a cache file (memory)
 of what you type.
E-mail addresses, website, your name etc.
You have a brand new computer so it will have to gather those information again and save it in its memory so it will remember what you’re typing.
As you use your e-mail and typing the
e-mail address that you use frequently, it will start remembering what your typing.
