Cannot install KB2675157 (get error 80073712 each time I try) Critical update for IE 9.

I cannot get  KB2675157.
I get error 80073712 each time I try. 
 
This is a critical update for IE 9.

 
System: Windows 7 Pro x64  SP1
 
I have now spent over 8 hours trying to resolve this installation failure without success and it's really trying my patience.
The other updates installed without a problem and this is the first time I've had a problem installing an update.
 
Should I just uninstall IE 9 and use Chrome instead or is there something else I could try? I'm preparing for a business trip tomorrow so this couldn't have happened at a worse time and I really don't want to use a browser that may compromise my system whilst
I'm using it abroad.
 
Any urgent help on this would be highly appreciated.

Perform the steps mentioned below and check if it helps:
Method 1: 
It might be some third party application is causing this issue.
Put the system in clean boot.

Boot in Safe Mode:

• Open Run command as previously described
• Type MSConfig
• Click on Boot tab
• Tick Safe boot in Boot option
• Select Network
• Click Apply and OK
• Reboot your system

Your system will boot in Safe mode with Networking. You may now try and open Windows Store and should not see any errors.
