Troubleshooting:copy move speed very slow Error

Hi all

OS Windows 7 2.66Ghz
RAM 3GB

When I copy or move a large file to somewhere in my computer, it takes a long time as usual.
This happens even I install a game or a bigger software, it takes more time than usual.
What should I do? How to increase the copy/move speed?? I had to format
my computer several times due to this problem.

And it has been 3 years since I've bought the computer.
Is that also an issue for this problem? Please help me
