Dead screen after log in failure windows 8
My fairly new Toshiba laptop gave me a message , "log on failure" then switched to a screen that had an okay to clear.
I pressed okay and now it has gone to a blank black screen with just a cursor and will not do anything else.
The cursor is active but
will not pull menus up from sides or anywhere or do anything else.
I tried letting battery run out and restart as I can't even get anything to shut it down with on screen.
It began the Toshiba start up screen so I thought I cleared it but after the little
circle under Toshiba did its thing back to the black screen and cursor.
Not even to the opening screen or log on screen.
Tried even putting a DVD in to try to,shake it out of this dead end loop but nothing.
Any ideas? Can't get any key combos to respond either...Cntrl,
alt delete or Windows and R key to get to safe mode.
Nothing works except the cursor moving
Solutions to the Problem Dead screen after log in failure windows 8
This one is a little tricky, because it takes trial and error (and patience) to launch the Windows 8 ‘recovery mode’ when start up sequence is on going.
What you need to do is, past the BIOS splash screen, hold down the Shift
key and repeatedly hit the F8 key.
Doing so should get you to the recovery mode, but it might take a few tries before you achieve that.
Once the Recovery screen is displayed, click the "See advanced repair options" button.
In the next screen, hit the Troubleshoot button.
In the troubleshoot menu, click Advanced options, wherein lies Windows Startup Settings.
Choose that.
The next screen will ask you to restart your PC, after which you’ll see the familiar Advanced Boot Option screen – the same one that’s been around since Windows XP – and you can choose Safe Mode here.
Make sure you select Safe
Mode with command prompt.
